Utterly Disappointing Experience

I visited Ristorante Indiano Ambasciata today based on the many positive reviews and because Google Maps clearly states the restaurant opens at 18:00. I drove a long distance to get there, only to be told upon arrival that the restaurant was not actually open and that they only start serving properly at 19:00.

When I pointed out that the opening time on Google Maps was incorrect, the staff blamed the owner instead of taking responsibility or apologizing.

We were seated and waited over 20 minutes, only to then be told that the only food available was French fries and other frozen fried items. I did not come to an Indian restaurant for frozen food—I came for dinner. We were told that they might be able to ask the boss for approval to prepare something else, which is completely unacceptable for a restaurant.

To make matters worse, we were told that even basic items like roti or chapati would take 30 minutes. At that point, we had no choice but to leave.

This was a complete waste of time and extremely disappointing. If the restaurant is not ready to serve food before 19:00, the opening hours should be updated accurately on Google Maps to avoid misleading customers.

We had a great experience overall. The food was delicious, especially the tandoori platter, which really stood out. The server was very generous and helpful, making us feel well taken care of. We visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and the place had a lovely atmosphere—perfect for the occasion. Overall, a nice spot with good food and service.

On my visit to Rome I had dinner with my friends here. It was a great experience of desi food taste. Authentic desi taste. The subcontinent has a huge variety of dishes which taste different like the south part is completely different from the north , the east has different cuisine than the west.

Extremely good food. Everything we had was flavorful. The staff is incredibly friendly and caring. We had Samosa & Onion Baji for starter. We then ordered Madras chicken, Saag Aloo, Naan Bread, and rice. The Saag Aloo was spicy, which was a pleasant surprise. The madras chicken was simply perfect!

A wonderful wonderful wonderful Indian restaurant in Rome. The waitress was exceptionally nice and helpful. We had reserved a table for 7 and we felt very accommodated and cared for. The food was delicious and very authentic. There are plentiful vegetarian options. We had a vegetarian appetizer with fried veggies and potatoes, delicious lunch entrees, wonderful watermelon drinks post entrees, and a tasty dessert which was given to us for free.

I didn’t think Indian food could be this good in Rome. I was very wrong. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious Indian food!
