On my last day in Rome, I visited Osteria Da Fortunata for pasta and tiramisu, and I can honestly say it was the highlight of my entire trip.
Exceptional Service
First and foremost, I finally encountered a polite and professional waiter with great customer service skills—a rarity in my Rome experience! I didn't catch his name, but I learned he was originally from Venezuela. I want to specifically thank him for his outstanding service.
He was incredibly thoughtful, warning me beforehand that the cheese in the pasta I wanted to order might be quite salty. He also checked in to see if I enjoyed the Americano and the tiramisu. His genuine interest in customer satisfaction was deeply appreciated.
Food and Atmosphere
• The Pasta: Delicious and authentic.
• The Tiramisu: Absolutely superb! One of the best I’ve had.
• The Vibe: The terrace has a wonderful ambiance that makes the meal even more enjoyable.

This meal truly made up for some of the culinary disappointments I had earlier in my trip. If you are in Rome, this place is definitely worth a visit!
I do agree with some other reviews that the atmosphere is fairly minimal. There’s no music, and the main lights are quite bright, which takes away from what could otherwise feel like a cosy setting. It’s clearly a very popular spot, and the focus seems to be on efficiency — they take your order, bring your food, and when you’re finished, you head up to the counter to pay. There’s little to no interaction beyond that.
There’s a separate queue for reservations. I made mine via email about a week before flying to Rome. There are several restaurants under the same brand name, so make sure you’re booking the correct location. I’d imagine they’re all quite similar, and it’s not possible to reserve an outdoor table. You can queue without a reservation, but given how popular it is, I’d expect quite a long wait.
Overall, I’m really glad I experienced it. The food was incredible and, considering how popular it is, I found it very affordable.
The restaurant filled up really fast after that, so I’m glad we got there when we did.
We ordered the carbonara and amatriciana, and both were super good. I think one of their specialties is the hand-rolled pasta they use, especially in the carbonara. It was definitely delicious and had a great texture, though it was quite thick, so it took me a while to finish.
Overall, it was a very good meal and definitely worth trying, especially if you want to experience their fresh handmade pasta.
