Ristorante Pancrazio dal 1922 is an esteemed Roman establishment, situated gracefully within the historic Campo de' Fiori district, yet comfortably removed from its livelier central square. This unique venue stands on the ancient ruins of the Theatre of Pompey, reportedly the very site where Julius Caesar met his end, offering diners an unparalleled connection to ancient Rome's dramatic past. The atmosphere is romantic and intriguing, featuring unique rooms including an ancient vaulted cellar and an elegant 18th-century salon, adorned with wood-beam ceilings, brick arches, and ambient lanterns.
The restaurant prides itself on serving typical Roman cuisine, with traditional family recipes passed down through four generations, ensuring an authentic taste of Italian heritage. Diners can indulge in classic pasta dishes such as Cacio e Pepe, Carbonara, and Amatriciana, alongside other hearty options like fried zucchini flowers with ricotta and anchovies, or succulent Roman-style chicken. Homemade tiramisu and pistachio cheesecake are among the delightful dessert offerings, complementing a meal described as delicious and well-prepared.
This historical restaurant is perfectly suited for those seeking an authentic and delicious Italian dining experience in a setting rich with history, without the feel of a tourist trap. It serves as an excellent choice for a romantic evening, a relaxed dinner, or special occasions like birthday celebrations. The charming and cosy ambience makes it ideal for both intimate meals and gatherings with family or friends.

The service from Sam was outstanding. He was friendly and helpful. The food all met our expectations especially the Carciofe alla grilla and the carbonara which was served as special with truffle shavings. Totally authentic and then up a level.
It was accompanied by good quality wine. All in all style and substance and felt good value for the location.
Highly recommended and hope to return next time we are in Rome.
We had read the reviews beforehand, but honestly, the food exceeded our expectations. Everything was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The Carbonara is 100% recommended one of the best we had during our stay. For dessert, the Frutti di Bosco Cheesecake was absolutely incredible and is our top recommendation.
A special thank you to Amin, who took care of us throughout our visit. His service was excellent, friendly, attentive, and professional, making the experience even more enjoyable.
