Everything was great except the Lasagna.
The Lasagna was a bit mushy.
Pasta was very fresh and savory.

Presentation, atmosphere was a traditional Roman style. Service is pretty fast. Reservation highly recommended. You may still wait up to 10 minutes. Very high paced restaurant. Personnel is friendly.

Prices are reasonable. Portions are fine.

Overall score 4.2/5 for an Italian Restaurant

The staff were very attentive and polite. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe and the pesto pasta. The pesto pasta was a bit undercooked for our taste, so it wasn’t exactly to our liking, but the sauce itself was quite flavorful.

For dessert, we had the panna cotta, which we also enjoyed. Considering how popular this place is, I found the prices to be quite reasonable. Overall, it’s definitely worth trying.

Before leaving our hotel, we researched restaurants we might want to visit in the Trastevere neighborhood, and Tonnarello immediately stood out. With over 100,000 Google reviews and an incredibly high rating, we knew we had to try it for ourselves.

When we arrived, every table was full and there was a line outside waiting to get in. Honestly, when every seat in a restaurant is taken and people are willing to wait, you know you’ve probably picked the right place.

The atmosphere was lively and authentic, the service was excellent, and the food was absolutely fantastic. Overall, it was an amazing dining experience, especially sharing a beautiful evening in Rome with family.

One thing we really appreciated was that the service never felt rushed. Unlike many restaurants in the United States where there can be pressure to quickly turn tables, here we were able to relax, enjoy the experience, and truly savor the meal and the moment. Tonnarello absolutely lived up to the hype.

We ordered the Carbonara and the meatballs. It was my first time having authentic Carbonara, and it was absolutely delicious! I love the creamy Carbonara we have in Japan, but this authentic style was a whole different experience—so much richer, and the thick noodles were amazing.

Dharani, who has a beautiful smile, was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our meal. She noticed we were getting full and thoughtfully suggested packing up the leftovers for us to take away, which was a lifesaver. We enjoyed the takeout back at our hotel later, and it was just as delicious!

Thank you so much for the wonderful food and the amazing time!

First restaurant I went to in Italy that left a strong impression on me.

The food was excellent, I got the pesto and my friend got the carbonara. Both were rich in flavor and enjoyable.

However the service made the experience quite unpleasant. We were seated before a couple and only got our menu after asking twice and they were already half way through their meals ! We then got served only after another group got seated and got served first.

We figured that we should try to be understanding as the place is very busy. However, the tones in the manners were also disrespectful.

The food is honestly worth the detour, the service is not.
