ELEPHANT, officially known as Osteria dell'Elefante, is a unique restaurant nestled within the historic Torre in Pietra estate, just outside Rome. This charming establishment boasts a remarkable setting, surrounded by nature with tables offering captivating views of a medieval castle. It stands out for its deep connection to local history, including a cellar dug into tuff 400 years ago and a dedication to the prehistoric elephants whose remains were discovered on the hill.
The cuisine focuses on the authentic wines and recipes of the Roman countryside, emphasising simple, genuine dishes. Ingredients are largely organic, sourced from their own production, such as olive oil, honey, and jams, alongside vegetables from their garden and products from local farms. Dining highlights often include sunny lunches, where guests can savour traditional Roman fare paired with the estate's organic wines, providing a true taste of the region.
This restaurant is particularly suited for those seeking an immersive experience of Rome's flavours and its picturesque countryside. It provides an ideal backdrop for relaxed sunny lunches, engaging wine tastings, or even cooking classes. The tranquil, historical atmosphere makes it perfect for memorable occasions and for anyone wishing to discover the authentic culinary heritage away from the city centre.

We'd previously visited the chef's other restaurant, Bottega Triso, and loved it and so had high expectations. They were certainly exceeded!
Food was fantastic, service exemplary and dinning room vibes on point - will be visiting again soon.
Service was excellent and the cocktails were great too. The dining room was elegantly decorated and had a great atmosphere.
