Casa Sceppa offers a warm, family-run atmosphere, establishing itself as a delightful neighbourhood trattoria and pizzeria near the Vatican. The restaurant exudes a cosy ambience with lovely decor, making guests feel welcome and at home, much like dining with locals. It stands out for its commitment to authentic, traditional Roman dining without adopting overly tourist-centric vibes.
The cuisine focuses on simple, traditional Roman and Italian dishes, prepared with care and skill. Guests can enjoy classic Roman pasta dishes such as cacio e pepe and carbonara, alongside traditional secondi like saltimbocca and oxtail. Also notable are the delicious carciofo alla giudia, a range of gourmet pizzas with a thin, crispy base, and house wines that are often praised for their quality and fair pricing. The menu changes seasonally, and many items, including pasta, desserts, and focaccia, are made in-house.
This charming eatery is particularly well-suited for families, thanks to its kid-friendly options like Margherita pizza and simple pastas. It also appeals greatly to travellers seeking genuine Roman culinary experiences, especially before or after visiting St. Peter's. Casa Sceppa provides an excellent setting for casual lunches or dinners, offering an authentic taste of Roman tradition.

Just awful, read great reviews online and it’s near our hotel so we decided to try. We arrived to be met by 3 very unfriendly almost dismissive staff, two in black suits and one in casual wear (assuming the manager, dyed orange hair)
We ordered our food from the dark haired waitress who never greeted us or made any kind of conversation, the food arrived, pasta ... undercooked but edible (nice sauce and not al dente as we know what that entails)
Almost finished when I reached over to try some of my sons food, the blonde waitress comes over and lifts our plates as I’m still eating, we were dumbfounded, actually horrified at the audacity and arrogance
This was witnessed by the manager who stood behind the bar and watched, disinterested
This is a place that is aiming to be something it’s not, pretentious and arrogant staff who clearly don’t want to be there ( here’s a hint ladies if you don’t want to be there then go, plenty of excellent waitresses and managers out there who know how to do their jobs properly who could turn this place around)
