I'm re-posting this beautiful building on Maps, along with its FIRST review, as it stands out among the many villas in Monteverde Vecchio. If you're near Villa Sciarra, or have just walked along Ugo Bassi's Scalea, right at number 3 of the same street, you'll find a visually striking building in the upper section, inspired by Venetian style, with elegant mullioned windows, contrasting color schemes, and a turret soaring above the three floors. The villa was built in 1920 by the engineer Quadrio Pirani (a renowned architect who also designed several popular buildings), a native of Jesi, commissioned by the celebrated lyric bass Giulio Cirino, who wanted a residence worthy of his fame. Cirino's daughter, Delia, a talented pianist but not one for public performances, married lyric bass Paolo Silveri in 1942. When the couple moved to Via Ugo Bassi, coming from Via di San Calepodio, the villa also took on the surname Silveri. Later inherited by their children Giuliano and Silvia, the building is also mentioned in a 1950 Metropolitan Opera publication and over time has served as a film set for various productions, from Paolo Heusch's "The Commander" to Carlo Verdone's "Cursed the Day I Met You," and even a scene from the series "Romanzo Criminale" directed by Stefano Sollima. The exterior is exquisite, with the twin tower of the one built on Via Alessandria by Giovannoni for the Peroni beer brewery, and today it stands as an example of taste and style. Need some help?
