Forte Casilina stands as a robust example of late 19th-century military architecture, forming part of Rome's extensive "Campo Trincerato" defensive system. Constructed between 1881 and 1882, this impressive fort, located in the Don Bosco neighbourhood, takes its name from the adjacent Via Casilina. It offers a glimpse into a pivotal period of Italian history following unification, when concerns for the capital's defence prompted the construction of such fortifications around the city.
