Global Library of Trees and Flowers - FAO Park is an innovative and symbolic biodiversity project established through a collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Roma Capitale. This verdant expanse is found within the historic Villa Doria Pamphilj park, Rome’s largest green oasis which beautifully intertwines history, art, and sustainability. The park spans approximately 2.5 hectares and is dedicated to cultivating sustainable practices and fostering global unity, presenting an atmosphere focused on learning from nature for a more sustainable future. It stands out as a unique and beautiful initiative, envisioned to become a worldwide attraction for the city.
The park showcases over a hundred newly planted trees and plants, representing seven diverse geographical regions from around the globe, including Africa, Asia, and Europe. Visitors can follow educational and learning paths, with each plant species thoughtfully marked by a QR code, enabling deeper engagement with the biodiversity on display. Furthermore, the FAO Park web app offers a digital journey, allowing guests to explore global forests, learn about the planted trees, and discover practical steps towards a sustainable future. Immersive guided tours have also been arranged, highlighting the crucial link between forests, food production, and their nutritional value.
