During our tour of Rome, our group of ten stopped in the Monti area for lunch. Finding a restaurant that could accommodate all of us proved to be a challenge, but we stumbled upon La Prezzemolina. Luckily, we were able to find enough tables and chairs for our entire group, so we decided to stay.

The staff was incredibly nice and patient, taking the time to explain the wide variety of pizzas they offered. We ordered a selection of different kinds, which was a great way to sample all the delicious flavours. It was a bustling place, and it felt like we had discovered a true hidden gem. We were so fortunate to have stumbled into this place and enjoyed a fantastic meal with our large group.

Excellent pizza at great price. Probably some of the best pizza we had in all of Italy. The crust was perfectly crisp and flavours on point! Would definitely go back and recommend.

Great little pit stop for a days exploring, pizza / topped focaccia served by weight, just say what you want, they ask you how much, heat it and you’re away.

Delicious toppings, quick service, ideal if you don’t want to stop for long

La Prezzemolina Review: Efficient Fuel, good Suplì, Standard Pizza al Taglio

Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Stars - Gets the Job Done, But Order the Suplì!

La Prezzemolina, a bustling fixture in Rome's culinary scene, is the epitome of the classic, efficient pizza al taglio spot. This place is consistently busy, which is a testament to its reliability and quick bite as you grab and go back to site seeing. Despite the crowds, we were impressed by the turnaround—our food was ready in less than ten minutes, which is stellar speed for such a popular destination.

The Pizza: Functional, But Nothing to Write Home About

The main offering, the pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice), was just okay—not bad, but certainly not spectacular. It’s a very basic, no-frills example of the style. The crust achieved a good crunch, but it lacked the desirable airy, fluffy interior that elevates great Roman slice pizza. It's the kind of pizza that satisfies a quick hunger, but won't necessarily blow you away. It’s entirely functional, delivering on the promise of a fast, affordable bite.

The True Star: The Suplì

The real reason to stop here is the suplì (fried rice ball), which was genuinely excellent. It struck the perfect balance: a great crunch on the exterior that gave way to a creamy, flavorful filling inside. Unlike the pizza, the suplì was clearly made with attention to flavor and texture, proving to be the highlight of the meal.

Final Verdict

La Prezzemolina is a solid, workhorse eatery. While the pizza itself is basic, the restaurant’s ability to handle a "crazy busy" rush and deliver food quickly is highly commendable. If you need a fast, reliable, and inexpensive bite near Rome’s attractions, this spot gets the job done. Just make sure your order includes the suplì—that's where the real flavor is found!

I love discovering places while walking. this place is a gem. Catering a typical pizza by weight The crispiness, the taste it is absolutely delish. The suplì we got is just freshly cooked so what to expect? — good texture and taste! The place is kinda small and would need to wait a bit to eat inside if it is full but worth it.
