La Prezzemolina, a bustling fixture in Rome's culinary scene, is the epitome of the classic, efficient pizza al taglio spot. This place is consistently busy, which is a testament to its reliability and quick bite as you grab and go back to site seeing. Despite the crowds, we were impressed by the turnaround—our food was ready in less than ten minutes, which is stellar speed for such a popular destination.
The Pizza: Functional, But Nothing to Write Home About
The main offering, the pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice), was just okay—not bad, but certainly not spectacular. It’s a very basic, no-frills example of the style. The crust achieved a good crunch, but it lacked the desirable airy, fluffy interior that elevates great Roman slice pizza. The staff was incredibly nice and patient, taking the time to explain the wide variety of pizzas they offered. We ordered a selection of different kinds, which was a great way to sample all the delicious flavours. It was a bustling place, and it felt like we had discovered a true hidden gem.
