The food at this little restaurant/shop is excellent. The ingredients are top-quality, and the cooking is excellent. We had two fregole with cacio e pepe sauce, artichokes with tartar sauce, and puntarelle: I can tell you everything was truly delicious. The price was very fair (in fact, for Rome, it should be more expensive). I'll be back again as soon as I'm in the area.

I first came across Filo's Instagram profile a few months ago and, with a trip to Rome to plan, I decided to include them in my food tour for the first weekend in September. I had already formed an opinion before even entering the restaurant, and I'm happy to say that this review fully reflects that idea! Andrea and Nadia are two wonderful people and two hard workers, people who know how to welcome you into their home, because the sense of intimacy you feel in their place is truly that of home. The atmosphere is truly comfortable; you sit down and you already know it's going to be a wonderful evening! I immediately asked if it would be possible to take some photos of the restaurant's interior and chat a bit during a less hectic moment of service, so as to have some reference material, and I can only thank them both for their great availability and the time they kindly gave me. Filo is, as the name suggests, both a kitchen and a shop, and the best thing, in my opinion, is seeing the two realities coexist and support each other: perhaps what makes you want to leave with half a wheel of good aged cheese under your arm is having been able to taste it in one of the dishes at dinner—what could be better? And what small dishes you find at dinner. "Filo, satisfy my curiosity, how's the eggplant?" "Eh, the eggplant is the bomb," he said, and boy was he right. Not an overly refined or complex dish, flavors of parmigiana, simple, home-made flavors, with that pleasant extra something you find on the palate, in this case provided by the fennel seeds and the lively tone of Tabasco. The same goes for the Fassona tartare, a product of excellence in its origins that simply wants to be picked up and transferred to the diner's plate—no frills, lots of substance, and another hit. The menu items change frequently based on budget and available ingredients—some of the entrees piqued my interest, but before we entered, we'd decided to opt for a light dinner. Well, that's true until we get to the desserts; we all know how these things work. Someone whispers "Caprese cake with homemade zabaglione gelato," and what do you do? You decline? Let's not talk nonsense! Moist, chocolatey, a hug like the one I wanted to give Andrea and Nadia after dinner, but alas, they were very busy with service, and I preferred not to disturb them too much and take my leave. Next time, though—and I can't wait—I'll be sure to share in person all the wonderful feelings you managed to convey to me! What more can I say? A highly recommended place, in my opinion, would be an understatement. I wish these guys all the best!
