We loved the bordatino soup with cornmeal, vegetables and beans. We were so happy to find plant based options and the service was great.

Opened this May 2022 by a Tuscan chef named Leonardo. We happened upon this stall after eating at a different famous stall in the market. Unfortunately, we did not have the room for more food that day, but what caught our gaze was the lampredotto sign. This was one of our favorite things we ate in Florence, and in Italy in general. After a week of eating great Roman food, we needed something different, so back to the market we went, and thank god we did. Leonardo makes lampredotto two ways: the traditional way, boiled in broth and can be topped with spicy green or red salsa; or in tomato sauce with onions and other spices, and can be topped with a spicy chili oil, which we did of course. But not before he dips the top of his perfect ciabatta bread in the simmered trippa broth. The lampredotto blew us away, full of flavor, maybe even better than when we had it in Florence multiple times. And that place had been doing it for over 100 years.

We also tried the capicola, salami and ham tagliere plate. My husband is a connoisseur of cured/aged meats, capicola more specifically, and said he never had such good capicola anywhere in Italy or anywhere else ever. I am not a fan of cured meats, but it was a sublim experience, even for me. Leonardo says he gets it from the market near his hometown in Tuscany. At this point he had us eating out of his hand, literally, and we wanted to try it all.

We next ordered some of his torta di cici (chickpea crepe), and his bread and tomato stew. Sounds strange, but it paired lovely together.

We tried to order a different sandwich called schiacciata con l'artista alla toscana, which is boiled pork in white wine, spices, and topped with a beautiful sauce on focaccia bread for later, but he ran out for the day. We gave us a taste of the last two slivers of meat left. Again, left us speechless. Did I mention, the prices are truly great for the quality and service.

If you are a traveler looking for something other than Roman food, a Roman looking for something different, or someone who is sad they can't make it to tuscany and rome in one trip, you have found your answer. You can thank me later.

Some of the best Tuscan food I've ever had, even though it is in Roma. The food was fresh, home cooked, authentic and simple, yet very tasty. The service was attentive and warm, and feels like you are visiting an old friend or relative.
